TELECOMWORLDWIRE-7 May 2004-UK parents concerned about 3G mobile phones(C)1994-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
A new survey from children's charity NCH has found that a large number of parents in the UK are worried about 3G video mobile phones having a detrimental effect on their child's safety.
In total, 73% of all those questioned said that they were concerned that their child could access inappropriate content through the Internet or the use of video messaging. Similarly, 78% thought that the technology would make it impossible to supervise and support children that use the Internet.
A spokesperson for the charity said that every 3G handset that is used by a child under the age of 18 should have filtering and screening software pre-installed to prevent access to pornography and other adult services.
The NCH questioned 624 parents with children under the age of 15.
